In Delaware, you must have a permit from the Director to collect or possess native reptiles, and it is illegal to take native turtles like box turtles from the wild. Non-native reptiles, including exotic species and some non-native pet turtles like red-eared sliders, require a permit to be brought into and possessed in the state. Permits are also required for commercial collection, captive breeding of native species except for licensed research or zoological display.
Delaware Administrative Code Title 7 (Regulations) - search by title and number, and then by subsection number.
